This page explains the psychological evaluation LivFull provides, the medical or psychiatric questions handled by other professionals and the circumstances in which both may be relevant.
The relevant service depends on the question being asked. These descriptions apply to LivFull’s scope and do not make general claims about Japanese law or every professional working in Japan.
A structured assessment of a psychological, neurodevelopmental, cognitive or learning question. It may use history, interviews, questionnaires, records and individually selected standardised testing. The findings and practical recommendations are explained in a written report.
A physician or psychiatrist decides what medical assessment is required and makes independent decisions about medical diagnosis, treatment and prescribing. Those services are outside LivFull’s scope.
A psychological evaluation can be useful on its own or alongside medical or psychiatric care. The appropriate route depends on the person’s needs, the purpose of the assessment and any documentation requirements set by a receiving organisation.

LivFull’s screening process considers whether a full evaluation is warranted and which areas may need assessment. A full evaluation may combine developmental history, current functioning, information from relevant people and standardised testing. Findings are discussed with you and set out in a written report in English.
A physician or psychiatrist is the appropriate professional for prescribing and medication management. A LivFull evaluation may still provide useful psychological information, but it does not guarantee access to medication or any particular medical conclusion.
Some schools, employers, insurers or other organisations may accept LivFull’s psychological report as formal documentation under their own policies. If an organisation specifically requires assessment or diagnosis by a medical professional, such as a psychiatrist, clarify this with the organisation and/or an appropriate medical professional before proceeding.

Interviews, questionnaires and feedback are normally online. When standardised testing is required, it takes place in person near Yokohama Station or Yamagata Station, subject to availability.
A written psychological report in English is provided as an outcome of the relevant evaluation. It is not sold as a standalone product.
An evaluation takes approximately 20–35 hours in total when screening is included. Screening is billed as two hours and paid separately. Later evaluation work receives an individual estimate before the client decides whether to proceed.

LivFull provides psychological evaluation, findings and recommendations, including a psychological report, with reference to DSM-5-TR criteria or classifications where appropriate. DSM-5-TR is published by the American Psychiatric Association.
The findings are based on the evidence gathered for the individual. Screening does not confirm that a full evaluation will be accepted, and no particular conclusion is promised in advance.
LivFull’s service is a psychological evaluation. Medication management and treatment for General Medical Conditions (GMCs) that are not psychological in nature are outside its scope.

No. LivFull clients refer themselves. A school, clinician or another professional may suggest or recommend LivFull, but the adult client or the child’s family must consent and contact LivFull directly. Every prospective evaluation begins with screening.
A report may include relevant school or workplace recommendations and may support a request. Some organisations accept LivFull’s psychological reports as formal documentation under their own policies. The receiving organisation decides what it requires, whether it accepts the report and whether it implements any recommendation.
