Hello friends, colleagues, and community members!
Save the date: March 9-10, 2025!!!
I’m thrilled to invite you to the IMHPJ 29th Annual Conference, happening this March 9-10, 2025, at the stunning French Chamber of Commerce (CCI France Japon) in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. Whether you’re a mental health professional, a student aspiring or someone seeking insights or interested in building resilience in the face of life’s challenges, this event welcomes you warmly.
This year’s theme, “Disaster Preparedness & Response” feels incredibly timely and relevant. Living in Japan, we’re no strangers to natural disasters - whether a mental health provider, mental health service recipient, questions often arise during times of crisis:
How can we best support each other during times of crisis?
What does preparedness look like in a therapeutic context?
How do we handle emergencies while balancing personal safety and professional responsibilities?
Our conference will explore these vital topics, equipping us with practical tools and a deeper understanding of disaster response, both as individuals and as an international community.
But there’s more! Alongside our sessions on disaster preparedness, we’ll dive into other fascinating and essential areas of our work:
An ethics training focused on the new international divorce and custody laws, offering guidance for navigating complex family dynamics across borders.
A didactic training experience led by the inspiring former IMHPJ president, Jillian Mickleborough-Sugiyama.
This two-day event promises to be not only informative but also a space to strengthen our sense of community. The French Chamber of Commerce offers a warm and welcoming venue, perfect for reconnecting with colleagues and making new connections over shared learning experiences.
As always, the IMHPJ conference isn’t just about professional growth—it’s about coming together as people who share a passion for mental health and mutual support. I’m genuinely excited to meet many of you in person, exchange stories, and enjoy the energy of this incredible group.

Warm regards,
